Family

Want to grab a slice of time and hold on to it?  By the time you read this and then think about it and then come back again, your life will have changed a little and your kids will have grown a little.  That is just how life works.

Our family portrait philosphy is simple.  We want your family to look just like your family - just at their very best.  We strive for realistic poses.  We want personalities to shine through.  We want details to be there to spark memories in 20 years of just how Mum always wore her rings, how Dad smiled, how the kid's hair was always a little messy.  We want to celebrate this time in your family's story so you always have that little slice of just how it was.   Ann often shares with clients that her favorite moment in family portrait work is pulling the finished prints from the box and "hearing" the laughter in the images.    There isn't anything better than that...unless it is the family's faces when they pick up their photos and the smiles start all over again.

The hardest part of Family Portraits for our clients is scheduling.  So let's talk about scheduling family portraits.  There is a hard reality to scheduling family portraits – There is No Good Time, There is Only Now.  Isn't Your Family Perfect Just as They Are Right Now?  (be careful how you answer that)

If we had a buck for every person who told us they really, really want family portraits but....well, we wish we could tell them something like this:

  • If Mom wants to loose weight before a family portrait, she should know we’ll do everything possible to make her look wonderful because if Mom doesn’t like herself in the portrait, no one is going to hear the end of it.  Ever.
  • If Dad has lost his hair and realizes he isn’t the stud he once was, he should know that is probably true.  He is no longer a stud.  He is Dad.  That is so much more important.
  • If the kids have crazy schedules and getting everyone together is nearly impossible, please know we can be flexible.  It really isn’t going to get better - just make it happen.
  • If the family dog needs to be better trained so he can be in the photo ...well, Fido can't do anything that some other dog hasn't already done at our studio.  The best moments in portraits are often the least expected.  When we all stop laughing, we’ll have an amazing image.
  • If it is going to be a hassle since certain someone(s) will throw a fit about what to wear, whine and moan, make the day miserable, etc., we'd be happy to tell them to just deal with it.  Anyone with a family knows it isn’t about being comfortable, it is about being a family.

We could go on and on and on, but let’s just stop there.  If family portraits are important to anyone in the family, then make it happen now.  Now Is The Perfect Time!
