Happy First Birthday, Elijah!

Frosting and dog kisses, two of my favorite things.

This handsome mini Aussie is not only adorable, sweet, and super well-behaved, he’s something even more important – Absolutely Loved! I’m telling you – if every dog had this dog’s life, the world would be a different place.

Dog portrait sessions are therapeutic for me, and this shoot was extra good for my soul.

Elizabeth, Ely’s person, called and asked if I could do some birthday images for his first birthday. Yes! Yes, I can! I’m not sure if Elizabeth could tell that I was excited since I tried to be cool, but I think she could tell. I’m sort of transparent when it comes to dogs.

We schemed and came up with a plan to capture some traditional pet portraits and then bring out the dessert and see what Ely would do. Elizabeth supplied the balloons and party hat, and I had the cupcake(s) and box of dog bones. Yes, I had a spares, just in case.

For those readers not up to speed on the current Smash the Cake 1st Birthday (human) baby photo shoot, this was the furbaby equivalent. And Elijah nailed it! No mess, no fuss, just canine consumption of frosting heaven topped with a Milk Bone. I’m still grinning.

Consider this the official launch of the Joles Photography Furbaby Cupcake Chow Down session.

I hope that these images marking Elijah’s first birthday always bring smiles to his family. Such a lucky and dearly loved dog.

Thank you so much, Elizabeth, for bringing Ely into the studio. And Ely, have the Happiest of Birthdays!
