Presto-chango. And just like that the tiny little sweetheart with the big hair is a toddler in a tutu.
Miss Ellie, now a whopping six months old, is the debut baby in what has been dubbed The North Light studio here at Joles Photography.
Yes, I have kitted out a room here at the studio all in white. And I must say that I love it. What makes this so special? Speaking for myself, I have always felt an affinity for portrait work that offers a person the chance to interact with natural surroundings. Sitting on a bed, looking out a window, even plopped down in the middle of the floor, a person is just bound to be more at ease, more genuine in not only their appearance but most importantly in their expressions. A toddler, a teenager, whatever the age – it’s all about capturing a genuine expression.
And man, did Ellie have some expressions!
This precious little spark plug has gone from wobbly-bobbly sitting to power crawling in a matter of just a few weeks. I was stunned by how much she has changed! And now she’s standing, bouncing up and down, and getting ready to take off like a rocket. I predict that the next time I see her she is, dare I say it, walking. And by walking I mean full-throttle sneaker skedaddling. She is going to give her mum and dad a run for their money – figuratively and literally.
So for Ellie’s six month shoot, her images are a mix of traditional white on white good old studio light work and North Light studio natural light images for a nice balance of classic with fun, active, genuine Ellie expressions. And then there is that tutu.
Oh, Ellie. You are the sweetness this world needs right now.
