Remy – One Lucky Dog

Isn’t he beautiful? A blend of Border Collie and Great Pyrenees, Remy is a ginormous specimen of fluff and different-colored eyes and freckled perfection. He’s already graced the cover of a magazine – I’m not sure which one, but it should have been The Rolling Stone.

It’s no secret that I have a soft spot for dogs, but Remy? He is extra special.

Surrendered due to medical issues, he was only 35 pounds when Taylor and Anthony took him home. Properly diagnosed and with regular medication, Remy grew healthy and packed on the pounds. Several years later, Remy has a family complete with little ones and a fenced in back yard. Heaven. Sometimes it takes a while to find your absolutely forever home, and Remy hit the jackpot.

Like I said, one lucky dog.

Canine happily ever after story aside, there is another reason that Remy is close to my heart.

Remy is the doppelganger to one of my father’s dogs, Patches. Dead ringer. The same size, the same eyes, the same freckles, the same disposition. They even smell the same. I am not kidding. Patch is long gone now, of course, and very few photos of him remain, but when Remy walked into the studio it was like good old Patch was crossing the veil and saying hello. He even let me give him a hug and kiss after the shoot, just like Patch would have. Such a good boy.

So here’s to old dogs, rescue dogs, lucky dogs, and just how happy they all can make us feel.

Thank you to Taylor and Remy for coming to the studio. I know this took a bit of scheduling and a bit of pharmaceutical magic, but I think we got the shots!
